Equal Education is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified, you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Equal Education may change this policy from time to time by updating it on our homepage. You should check this page routinely to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 18.05.2018.

Short summary

In order to provide our services and to improve the education of Looked after Children, we do collect, save and process the necessary data of all parties involved. All data is stored securely and will not be forwarded to any external party.

General analysis of our work is done on a regular basis in-house and summarised and aggregated data not containing any sensitive details might be published or shared with our partners.

Data we collect from tutors

We collect personal data from our tutors during the application process. We require this to work efficiently and some of this data is required specifically for safeguarding reasons. We do not collect any unnecessary data. Should a tutor candidate be successful, we will store the information for as long as they are active and in accordance with our general data storage guideline below.

Should the candidate not be successful all sensitive data and all documents will be deleted within 3 months. All other data will be stored according to our data storage guideline.

Other Data

From our partners and stakeholders we do collect only the necessary data to provide our services and try to no collect any sensitive, unnecessary data, especially from looked after children. This data is stored for an unlimited amount of time. Should any partner or stakeholder want their data to be deleted, please get in touch with our Data Privacy Contact.

What we do with data

We strive for continuous improvement and we may analyse data in order to evaluate our impact. This data is summarised, non-traceable and is solely used to improve our services or to cooperate with different partners to better understand how improved education outcomes can affect life outcomes for Looked after Children.

How long do we store data?

We collect data from different partners and try to store it only as long as necessary. Due to the nature of our work though, we do need to save our general data for longer periods of time. This enables us to trace back who we worked with and whether or not there have been any safeguarding issues.

From removed tutors, we only save basic data and all documents provided will be deleted within three months. These tutors will not be contacted, unless required by one of our partners regarding a past tutoring session.

Should a tutor not have been active for a while, we do send out emails twice a year to see whether they want to remain in our database and should we not hear back after two such emails, the tutor will be automatically removed.

Do we share data?

All non-summarised data is stored securely and will not be forwarded to any party. Only in case of a referral, we will forward the necessary details provided by our tutors to who we provide services for.

We do not use any data for marketing, market research or commercial purposes.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system. We do not store any IP addresses.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

Due to safeguarding reasons we will store basic data to be able to report back to partners in case we need to. No special category data will be stored, and you will not be contacted once having asked to be removed. Should you change your mind, please feel free to contact us again.
